Day 42 Isaiah 48 48:1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. 2 For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name. 3 I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass. 4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; 5 I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I showed it thee: lest thou should say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them. 6 Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have showed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them. 7 They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heard them not; lest thou should say, Behold, I knew them. 8 Yea, thou heard not; yea, thou knew not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou would deal very treacherously, and was called a transgressor from the womb. 9 For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. 10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. 11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? And I will not give my glory unto another. 12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. 13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. 14 All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans. 15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous. 16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me. 17 Thus says the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teaches thee to profit, which leads thee by the way that thou should go. 18 O that thou had hearkened to my commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: 19 Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me. 20 Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob. 21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. 22 There is no peace, says the LORD, unto the wicked. Many people wear crosses and call themselves Christians, yet they have never set foot inside a church or opened a Bible to know what God says, or who God is. God has shown in his Word, who he is and what he did, creating the world, and stretching out the heavens, so the number of stars cannot be counted. Everything you see, is from his hand and not from idols. Yet for all the documented proof that God created the world and us, still man declares that it could not have happened that way, that we somehow evolved and became what we are today. God, in his love for his people, declared he would not cut them off completely. God reminds his people that he brought them through the wilderness, fed them, and nourished them so they would enter the Promised Land singing his praises. As born-again Christians, you know the Word of God, and how he loves you, and called you, and cared for you. You know the road it took to bring you to the cross, to your knees in true repentance. You are not ashamed to call him your God, and declare his righteousness. It is God who causes you to prosper, and lead you in the way you should go. It is his Spirit that teaches you all things and brings back to remembrance the Word of God when temptation comes your way. It is Jesus, your Redeemer, who died on the cross for you and saved your soul from hell. God is his name. Yahweh, Jehovah, Almighty God. And there is no other. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for being my God, my Redeemer, my teacher. Help me resist temptation, declaring your Word as you bring it to remembrance, shutting down every scheme Satan would bring against me. Help me praise you, and give you glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 1 October 2017 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

Its crazy. I no longer have a rosary or even wear a crucifix. Those things were stolen from my house among everything else. At times, I've thought about replacing them. Yet compared to other expenses in education supplies for my kids or house repairs (there are so many), that I just haven't brought myself to it. Like you said, people can wear whatever and not be a true representative of it. Yet, they really can be important things to have. Sometimes its nice to just have that tangible item in hand, to feel it in comfort when in prayer. Yet its really not needed. All that is important is what is inside that matters and that actions speak louder than words and symbols.

For you, using the rosary, isn't just a symbol you have tucked away in a drawer somewhere and only bring it out when you feel it necessary to do so. It's your tangible link to God and his love for you. I can understand the pain of your loss that it was stolen. I hope one day you will be able to get another one. I'm not Catholic, so I don't have a rosary. However, when my divorce was final, I went to the Christian book store and looked for a ring to replace my wedding band. As I placed it on my finger, I vowed to God to be faithful to him. It's my covenant ring. I've lost that ring three times, and replaced it once when the band broke. Each time I lost it, God brought it back to me. When it broke, the clerk told me there was a lifetime warranty on the ring and replaced it free. God is a good God. He honors your commitment to him. He will provide a way for you to get a new rosary if that is what you want.

@Daelii That's a good idea to make your own. It can't be too hard if you know how to do it.

@just4him I hope so. The one I had was a real special gift from my mom. :( I do hope to get a new one sometime. I know when the time is right it will happen. For now I don't mind waiting. Though I do kinda wish it could just show up somewhere for sale. Or one even kinda close to it. I have had dreams about a random rainbow one. So who knows I might just end up making my own!
