What word is used when someone calls you names?

When I was a kid, I had lots of friends my age. Fighting was part of our childhood life. Even all of us used to call other kids names. When someone calls you names, it is irritating. How would you react? would you just ignore it? Do you still remember being called names by some of your friends?

In my elementary years, if someone was not liked we said they had cooties. I "had cooties" in sixth grade because I was a studious nerd and not popular. I didn't care much because I was not interested in all the fashion and popular music, so I just carried on. I think people were jealous of my good grades too.

Yes, I guess so. There is a person with disability who is successful. And those who envy often mention his disability when commenting on the success he made.

None of my friends ever called me names even when I was a kid. It was my siblings who did. And that would normally start a fight when we were very young. But not anymore.

Kids easily said that to their friends, even among members of a family. Even a mother would say that to her son.

That happened a lot during my primary school years, but mostly to boys. I never get called names, fortunately.

It happens to people of all ages, I guess. This is often done by uneducated people who do not know how to respect others.

my son's friends called him vulgar word names and they curse, swear each other's parents with the vulgar words. What do you expect from boys fights?

I think that's normal for kids to swear they fight. Even adults cannot avoid calling people names.

I can still remember, I am called "lizarda" , a komiks character before. That's because, I am so thin. I feel so angry when some not so nice classmates calls me that. But I just ignore them. So when they saw me now, they were so surprised.

When I was a kid when some body calls me by a name with malicious or insulting intent I settle it right away either in the football field, at the back of the gym or even inside the restroom. They won't stop until you fight them and after you shake hands, nobody would dare call you a name again, so it stays that way, I am simply called by my name even here in our subdivision. It's different if it's complimentary or cute especially if it's a girl who is doing it

Yes I do, name calling, is I think part of growing up. I've been called skeleton before since I was too skinny when I was a kid, so I often retaliate and called them on whatever their flaws as well. Still thin now, but they stop calling me that when I get to high school. I guess we mature a little. ;)

One of my daughters is skinny and I don't like my relatives calling her names related to her being skinny.
