We Have 2 Years

Well, we live with my in laws and have since I moved to Maryland with my son a month after he was born. So this year would make 4 full years that we have lived with them. Recently there has been a lot of conflict and stress in the house and we had a couple family meetings to discuss them. Which did not have the greatest outcome but it isn't the worst it could be. My in laws have decided to sell the house within 2 years time which means that we have to somehow save up enough to be able to afford to get our own place, which will most likely be in a different state because this state is very expensive, and also some how manage to build and get good credit. Of course this will be kind of difficult considering my husband just lost his job in an incredibly unjust issue that we will be taking some legal action against. So I am going to be working as much as allowed to help make and save money to help us when the time comes where we can't be here anymore. Any advice on building credit? Any advice on states where we could possibly get by? We have been looking into Delaware because its closer to my family who are very supportive but we can't live with them because that is not where we want to be raising our son for a few years while we try to get ourselves together fast.

That is good that you have plenty of notice to prepare and plan. As for building credit, get a credit card and use it to pay for your a couple of your regular expenses (gas, groceries, etc--things that you know you already have the $$ for). Then pay that bill off in full each month.

Why dont you want to raise your son in Delaware? Sorry guess I dont get it as your family is there for support. Oh well..just go to the cheapest state there is if you dont care about being near family. Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas are dirt cheap in places..but not sure of work there. I lived in all of those states and did okay there. Colorado where I live now though, the rents are high but there is TONS of work. Thanks goodness you have some time to start planning.. And yes as far as credit goes..do what Chicaa said there..she is right about that..it works.

@TiarasOceanView No its ok i should have clarified lol but we are liking the idea of going to delaware i just don't know how to go about it because i feel like one should be living there to get a job but also one needs a job to have money to live there while getting a job and the whole process is just very stressful, sorry im rambling

We don't want to raise him in Philadelphia which is where my family is. Delaware would be perfect cause we would be right in between at equal distance from both our parents

I'm glad you have notice and can start figuring out a plan. I would say North Carolina but depending on where you go there might not be a lot of work. Florida isn't horribly expensive but there's a lot of work here.

I don't live in the US so I can't help with giving advice but I hope everything goes well for you. It would definitely be better to have your own place.
