My wife (Anne) eats like a Brit

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
For anyone who does not know what I mean, it's the fork in the left hand and knife in the right. I know that she visited England several times while living and teaching abroad, but she began using her fork with her left hand at about age 13. No one else in her family did. She says, "it just makes more sense." She has a point.
No, she is not left handed. Now, if I tried that after all these years and being right handed, I would make a mess, possibly even stab myself with my fork.
Now I wonder how many others have adopted this style or tried it.
Even stranger would be a Brit who abandons this sensible way of dining for the US style, where you have to change the fork to your left hand while you cut your steak or whatever is for dinner.
Know anyone who goes against the grain with their cutlery?

Hmmm, I guess we are the out of step ones. I did not notice that when I was in Italy.

I'll try this out. Always been right-handed but through the years, I have trained myself to be left-handed. Case in point, when I box, I use a southpaw stance.

@allen0187 I will look into it. I could have used it in junior high school.

Now that is interesting. Even at my age, I would like to learn to box.

I would never attempt to eat with my left hand, I would also make a mess or stab myself. Lol. It wouldn't be good.

I am right handed but I use the fork in the left hand to "hold down the food" and cut with the right hand, then I juts switch. I may try to eat left handed, try this out, who knows I can retrain my brain.

That is what most US folks do. It would be hard to keep that fork in my left hand.

From the headline, I thought you meant she ate bangers and mash!

That's the way I eat most of the time and I did not know it was a European thing. It just makes more sense! In fact, most of my family eats this way and has since I can remember. Wow, we learn something new every day!

I was pretty old when I met Anne, would be hard to train that left hand now.

I guess you should be glad your wife eats like a Brit and not like a pig! (Sorry, I couldn't help it.) I tried this once upon a time but it did not work well for me.

Yes, look at the bright side! I suspect that you need to start young at whatever style you choose, though maybe some are ambidextrous diners.

@JamesHxstatic It is hard to change when you grow up doing something a certain way.

I've always eaten like that, even though I am not totally left handed.

Oww! I stabbed myself with a fork!!
Haha, I could see that possibly happening to me too.
I am right handed also. I'm that person you referred to- I change my fork to left hand so I can use the knife with my right hand to cut my food. I think I'm too old to change now!

Not that I can think of. Does she critize how you hold the fork and knife?

Yes, I suppose that is true in many places influenced by the British culture. Maybe Anne saw it in a movie, tried it and liked it.
