We Reached a New Level of Weird

United States

Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment in the morning, and then my sister and I had an outing around town for the rest of the day. When we were outside one store's entrance, an employee was pushing a train of carts and forced me to step aside, which resulted me bumping right into a garbage can with my elbow. Which sent my germaphobia/OCD into a tizzy, especially since that particular store's bathrooms are disgusting and I did not want to go in there to try to wash my arm. My sister always carries hand sanitizer on her, so she offered to sanitize my elbow. We must have been a weird sight, standing there in front of a busy store in broad daylight while she slathered hand sanitizer onto my elbow. I think we have reached a new level of weird. Still, you know your sister must love you if she's willing to rub hand sanitizer on your elbow in front of a crowded parking lot, just so you won't have a panic attack.

Sanitizer works on elbows as well as hands. Good thing your sister was packing!

Yes, I'm grateful she had her sanitizer on hand! I usually have some but it was in my other purse.

Moral of the story. Beware of garbage cans bearing germs. And make sure you always have hand sanitizer on hand (no pun intended). Just lIke your credit card, don't leave home without it!

Yes! I am always bumping into things and that garbage can popped up out of nowhere. I need to remember to put my sanitizer into the bag I've been using, it was at home in my other purse. Thankfully my sister always has hers!

HaHa, people are rude and sorry you had to bump a trashcan. I would offer some words of wisdom. Germs help our immune systems, so just do not go overboard. That being said, was right to disinfect your elbow. Public Trashcans could have really bad bacteria on them.

@Srbageldog I hear you. Trust me was reading about clean freaks who can get worms. I guess they live in our body anyway. I knew bacteria did, but not worms, worms get real big and act as our immune system when to clean. Was pretty interesting. The same do not become overly dirty because worried about worms. Just do what common sense teaches us.

Yes, I thought it a bit rude that employee made me jump out of the way and bump into the trashcan! They are supposed to wait and let customers pass before they shove their train of carts in front of you. Logically, I know germs help our immune system. But my brain doesn't always listen to logic. I have, at least, cut down on my hand sanitizer usage. But in this case I think it was warranted since who knows what germs are on a public trashcan. Blech.

It was seriously gross. I don't think the employees clean in there too often, or else the public is just nasty and constantly smearing stuff everywhere.

No not weird at all, when Tony was on chemo he would stay in the car and I would go inside to shop, he wanted out of the house so that is why he stayed in the car,As soon as I came out I loaded th trunk and he had me get sanitized before getting in the car, right there in the parking lot. He could not catch nothing or he would get sick and die, neither one of us had a cold or anything last winter.
