Culinary Epic Fails: Appetizer Pie

A couple weeks ago I picked up a copy of the first volume of Better Homes and Gardens Encyclopedia of Cooking. I checked the published date in the front of it and it's from 1970! I knew it would have all kinds of "fail" recipes. And one of just that sort of recipes that I found is named Appetizer pie. It has all kinds of goodies in it including deviled han cucumbers caviar mayonnaise mustard and rye bread. Now on there own these things aren't bad but when you put all the soft ingredients in a blender with eggs and salad dressing and then spread it on the bread topped cream cheese and olives and stick that on bread, I just can't even begin to want to eat it. Ewww, the picture in the cookbook looks like someone took soft cat food and slathered it on bread.

You truly do have a point there, Courtney! And I have to agree with you! Um, however... it doesn't surprise me that you would say anything different! Haha I'm making chicken, mashed turnips, and the kale salad for dinner tonight. How about you come visit me and I'll share my dinner with you!?

I wonder if they worked in the 70's, I know things have changed somewhat over the years.

Well. I can't imagine it tasting any better then. Although everyone was high in the seventies so maybe that's where it came from.

@thislittlepennyearns Nothing but rain from Nate, which we absolutely didn't need. Still have lots of flooding issues from Irma that we're still dealing with, and the added rain from Nate is only making things worse.
