Birds on a wall

While we were touring France our son and daughter-in-law shifted house in Ireland. They are now living quite close to Kells where the Book of Kells was written. We saw the Book of Kells in Dublin where the book is on display. Each day (or maybe it’s each week) they turn one page to the next. Getting back to our son and his wife, they are now in an old farmhouse right next to a working dairy. On entering through the front door, you are faced with the scene shown in the photo. Someone has hand-painted the branches and then stuck pictures of birds on the branches. Although I probably wouldn’t do the same here, I think it looks really cute

At least you would not have to clean up after the birds.

That's true. A great point in favour of having stick-on pictures.

It looks very nice, even if I wouldn’t do this either.

@JudyEv The branches are very well done, we know a painter who is very good. Years ago he painted a fly on a basket of fruits, people tried to get out the fly from the painting.

@LadyDuck Haha. I can just about see that happening. He must have been good. I guess the people thought the fly was spoiling the painting.

I quite liked it. They seemed to be just stick on birds but the branches were painted on. My branches would never look so natural.

I've heard of kids having a frieze of horses round their walls too. Some sort of thing.

@JudyEv when i had my house way years back, i had rose colored walls painted in the front room which we made a play room with pool table and dart board and my son painted golden swirls on one wall for me. looked like gold clouds. When people came over and saw it they loved it. contrary to what some might think.

@bunnybon7 We have one wall which had had cream 'swishes' painted over an orange background. It looks quite nice but yours sounds really classy for a play room.

I think that is really cute. I think it would look really good in a little girls room.

@JudyEv I loved horses but I was really into unicorns when I was young. That would have fit my bill perfectly.

@Shellyann36 I was never really keen on unicorns. They didn't seem 'real' or natural - not like a horse or pony.

It would indeed. I always wanted a frieze of ponies in my room.

The branches look nice and natural too don't they? I'd never be able to get that effect.

@judyev It's nice to be able to choose which birds come to perch in your trees!

Its cute but not in my house either. Now if the birds were hand painted as well it would be acceptable.

That would be different I had a friend who just had a cement floor in her house but it was hand-painted to look like wooden planks - with a little gecko painted in one corner.
