Most people would recognize the name Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as that of the author who gave life to Sherlock Homes. He was obsessed with the paranormal. Being a firm believer in ghosts he wrote about spiritualism and fairies and enjoyed séances. He didn’t believe that he had supernatural powers but he did write about some spirit encounters in his 1930 book “The Edge of the Unknown”.
Doyle had one unusual encounter when he woke up and could tell that there was someone in the room with him. He was convinced that the presence was from the world beyond. His body was paralyzed so he could not move but he could hear footsteps walking across the room. A presence bent over him and whispered that it had come to tell him that it was sorry. Afterwards the spirit vanished and Doyle could move again.
His wife had just kept calmly sleeping but Doyle was totally convinced that it had not been a dream. He thought that this individual was a man to whom he had tried to give psychic consolation while he was bereaved. The man had not taken Doyle’s offer and soon afterwards died himself. It could be that he returned to express regret. Doyle explained his sleep paralysis as a result of the spirit taking power from him in order to make an appearance in the world of the living.
What would you do if a spirit whispered to you?

@xander6464 I dislike therapy culture - the therapist needs to keep you neurotic so they never say, yay, you are sane and totally ok. It's always come back next week for another session, pay on your way out please.

They do whisper to me. I ask them to relay what they want in my dreams or to please leave me be.
