I almost missed it

What a surprise. I had been looking at pictures I took of some sunflowers in the yard back in 2012 when I noticed there were some dark spots on stalks. So I zoomed in to see what those spots were and look what was watching me. That wee ant was on the underside of one of a sunflower. Now that is motivation, I am going to the store that sells organic sunflower seeds and plant them all over the yard. I might even get a bag of bird seed to throw out there so the mourning doves don't eat all the sunflower seeds. Isn't that lil ant cute?

I know, I love sneaking around the flowers to see what kinds of insects are feasting.

You got up close and personal there but the ant is still tiny.

He is a cute little fellow. Are you sure you want a yard full of sunflowers? I used to grow a few rows but I don't know if I'd want a yard full.

I'd be happy if there were a lot of them in my yard but that would require a whole lot more rain than we usually get.

Oh no @responsiveme you mean not even for the upsidedown ant? Well, I can imagine how hard it is to think up a limerick, I have tried but I cannot get past that 2nd line, it's just not my talent.

Thank you. Sometimes it pays to give photos a close look, it's how I find the ones with bees or ants and stuff in them.

I am curious about your camera. That shot is incredible! (Ants in your garden might increase the presence of aphids. Ants like to herd & care for aphids as farmers to their cows with all the milking business involved, not exactly like that but not too different either.)

It's a Nikon s6100 coolpix. Yes, I thought being able to crop out this portion of the photo and still get such a good image was exceptional.
