What is an example of critical thinking?

Maybe its because I am on hour 11 of work or becauze it is 0330am and I am exhausted, but I am applying for this job which asks a couple of essay questions and I am totally stumbling over this one question that has to be included in the job application.
Tell me about a time you had to use critical thinking to make a decision at work...
Whats your answer?
According to Google, critical thinking is using logic and reasoning. Seems simple enough. To come up with an actual example seems... darn near impossible to me.
Any ideas?

@maezee Oh ok. I agree When you say Critical it means a little bit on a emergency thing. For example: What would you do if your boss is still out and needed his signature?

I needed a print out of a cartoon image...Couldn't find a printer...Bought a tracing paper and pencil instead and traced it from my mobile

I'd say its when something occurred and you couldn't respond as you usually would and had to make up a new procedure. I'm guessing though, it would depend on the job duty. So, if your data base went down, you could always access it thru a back door or take notes and then go back in later......
Good luck with that one, its hard.
