November...December...New Year!

I just read Darcy's discussion about being anxious for the nearing end of the year.
Then it suddenly dawned on me that I'll be turning 40 very soon. 40!
I wish I could still say, 40, flirty, and thriving!
I have a list of forty things to do before I turn 40 but I have seemed to have forgotten them because I've been really busy with work and traveling. So Now I have to go over the list because I have only about three months to go before the deadline!
Do you look forward to your 40th birthday? Or how was your 40th birthday? Was it a big deal?

I was pretty depressed on my 40th and was heading off to bed early when the neighbours dropped in with a surprise birthday cake so it ended up a lovely evening after all. Hope you get your list of 40 things achieved. I don't think I'll be making a list of 72 things to do before my next birthday.

Hi there! It's been awhile. Nice to see you here again.
Nobody could ever guess my age as they always think I'm younger. I should take that as a compliment but I don't want to be treated like a kid.

@shaggin Thank you. Most women in my country do look younger than our age.

40 was no different than any other year. 50 was special as I made it to half a century.

Age is just a number so it doesn't really affect me that much. But I'm just proud to say I'll be turning 40 because a lot of people really couldn't guess my age right.

@toniganzon right on that. adults like us are thought of to be responsible people, and i find some elders here in my place who dress like teenagers (leggings, tight shirts, high heels) that the younger people say they are 'nagmumurang kamatis'.

@toniganzon i also appreciate women dressing like what you mentioned. but here in my place, if you see the woman i am talking about, you will just shake your head because the woman is really looking like 'nagmumurang kamatis'.
i know a well-dignified old lady here who dresses according to her age, and she is respected by others. she is the retired judge, the mother of a priest here.

I hope you will be able to make it! I have seen some blog post like that to. There are many like things to do before they turn 30's, 40's and so on, or what you should do during your 20's, 30's, and so on. Those blog posts are really entertaining. I am not going 40 yet. On the other hand, I hope that when I reach 40, I already did almost most of the things that I love or those things in my bucket list.

I don't consider my list as a bucket list. Just the things that I would love to enjoy before turning 40. I don't have a bucket list for when I die. I think I made a discussion here abut one of my list and that was I think being in the sea with the dolphins.

@toniganzon I would love to be with the dolphins too as I have observed how smart and friendly they are. I wonder if all dolphins are like that. I haven't been here for a long time so I am not updated with what has been happening since I left.

@annierose I wrote that discussion last year I think and I think I saw you in that discussion. I have been away for quite some time here and I'm someone who barely start my own discussion. I'm not sure you remember me well. But I do remember you. I'm good with usernames so even if you change your profile pic, I'd still know it's you.

It is said that life begins at forty. Indeed, when I turned forty, it seems I am more confident in myself already. It wasn't a big deal though.
So go for that list of forty things to do. But what the heck, you can still do them even when you are older than that.

@teamfreak16 It was a wonderful birthday then! I've been surprised by my students before. I think it was my 31st birthday. It was the first time somebody surprised me with a cake and a present and everybody singing. I didn't expect that from my students. It felt great. Was one of my happiest.

Age doesn't really bother me but I still have a few more years before turning 40
So your list of things to do would keep increasing every...what, 10 years?

NO. It won't increase at all. It's the first and the last list for me as I consider 40 as a milestone. I think I mentioned that in the discussion.

@toniganzon Sorry didn't get any indication that it was a milestone and a one-time thing from what you wrote in the discussion. My bad to have assumed it as a decade-ly thing. Good luck getting it all done though!

I can't remember a thing about being 40. Life must have been too hectic at the time for me to notice anything. But I remember I had lots of photos when I was 41 or 42 with friends. When they sent me the photos at the time (or showed them on certain social websites), I thought, 'cool, Didn't know that I was THAT pretty!'
These days, I just see
in any current photo of mine

@toniganzon When I first wake up, still asleep and can't see anything much, I swear I look quite good in the mirror, better than Cleopatra! The moment I wash my face and can begin to see things clearly, I only see an old hag looking back at me! Shocking! (That mirror of mine is so bad in quality it is incredible! Shouldn't I be prettier when I could see things better?
