Pepper powder on ice cream?

Okay, this is by far the strangest thing I've ever seen and tasted in life.
One of my co-workers (who is Korean) said his favorite dessert was coconut ice cream with a kind of pepper powder (whose name I can't remember right now).
He prepared the dessert and I tasted it... At first the taste is really strange / weird, but after it becomes very interesting (but not necessarily good
).

Pepper (the ordinary black kind) works very well with strawberries. Rather than actually tasting the pepper, it seems to enhance the flavour of the strawberries. I have also tried freshly ground pepper on ice cream (freshly ground is very important). Pepper has all sorts of aromatic oils as well as the hot taste and these go well with the vanilla flavour of ice cream.

Ice cream with pepper! I was wondering how it would taste. Does it taste good? I am knowing about this combination for the first time.

Not something that I'd want but definitely something that I'll try at least once in my life.

I would not want to eat ice cream with pepper powder on it. ICK....
