Should husbands also do grossery?

November 7, 2017 7:13pm CST
In India as women are more expert in cooking at home, the grossery is also done by the wives. The husbands give the excuse that they have strict job timings and have no time. But more than 60% women in urbanised cities in India are also working in many offices. So it is unfair if they are asked to do the grossery after being tired. Husbands should be equally sharing the household workload. They should also be in a position to choose right quality rice, wheat and also vegetables. Should husbands do grossery along with wives also?

In India, many husbands have tough office timings, they leave for office at 8 am in the morning and return back at 8 pm. so they hardly get time. But even then that is no excuse they can do the grossery on sundays.

Both cooking and shopping for groceries should be shared...If not the actual cooking then washing up, laying the table etc

Thanks ARM, yes I agree with you. Even children's affairs like packing their bags, helping them in subjects like Maths, English, Physics, should be shared.

i see more and more males going to the wet market by themselves and the grocery store by themselves and being knowledgeable in what they're purchasing.

@sathviksouvik i also see more and more fathers commuting and going out and eating out with their young son or daughter, and they're quite capable.

Thanks Hereanthere. It is great to know it happens in Phillipines. In India it is uncommon, out of 10 families, 7 wives do everything, only 3 husbands do the grossery, marketing, helping children, etc.
