Trying to Regain my Normal Lifestyle

As you can probably tell, I've been gone again. Two things happened. First, once again I bit off more than I could chew by signing up for the October Ultimate Blogging Challenge. I did it to try to revive a blog I was neglecting. I enjoyed it and I met new people, but I did overextend myself by the time I finished all the networking involved in the challenge.
Second, my doctors started messing with the dosages on my medications. Evidently a little over a month ago my blood test told my primary care physician I didn't need as much thyroid medication, so she cut the dose. At the same time she cut the dose of my heart medication in half. When I asked why, she said I'd lost twenty pounds over the past two years and so I didn't need such a large does. Still doesn't make sense to me, since I didn't lose one half my body weight.
Ever since she changed the dosage I've been having problems that have made me modify my lifestyle. I can be sitting at my computer working and suddenly get dizzy. That had never happened before in my life for no apparent cause. It was happening about once a day, always when I was sitting, and I was afraid to drive anywhere.
My heart palpitations, for which I was taking my medicine, came back big time when the dosage was cut. The doctor thought the fainting was due to low blood pressure. My blood pressure was a bit lower, but I thought that was supposed to be a good thing. It was averaging about 120/60 before the dosage was cut.
One night my husband was sick and I had to drive around the corner, about half a mile, to Walmart to pick up his prescription. After I'd gone three blocks the palpitations attacked just as I was stopped trying to make a left-hand turn against a lot of oncoming traffic. It was scary because I couldn't park anywhere until I could get into the lot. I prayed hard and waited until traffic cleared and then I got parked and waited until I felt better before going in. During this past month I've had palpitation attacks that sent my pulse as high as 171 without raising my blood pressure.
Of course I called the doctors, but couldn't get an insurance referral to see my cardiologist until last week. Of course he said what I thought he would. Go back to the old dosage of heart medication. He couldn't understand why my internist had changed it. But while I was waiting to see him, I almost went to the ER four times and each time I decided against it because of what my cardiologist has said in the past about this problem. He reaffirmed that when I saw him last week.
Now I've finished the challenge and my heart is starting to behave more normally again. I still get the dizzy spells, but the cardiologist says they aren't a heart problem. I wonder whose problem, besides mine, they are. Guess I'll have to wait and see.
I hope to get back here more often now that the challenge is over, but meanwhile I've been hooked on a new addiction. I'll tell you about that in another post.

@bagarad I am at postloop and The Forward Wheel.Of the forums in postloop there is one that is trying out article writing outside the purview of postloop and I am invited to write for them - a temporary assignment. I get a dollar and more for 300 words.
At both these gateways I have earned good and in fact these days I do not do anything for postloop as I feel tired writing.
I too have this issue of tachycardia but being a MVP candidate I take pills that takes care of this quick pulse. It is a benign condition and so I am not worried.
What causes your fast pulse rate?

@allknowing I didn't even realize PostLoops was still up and running. I haven't been there for years. I got tired of always being attacked for everything I believed, knowing that I was being provoked to keep the discussions going to earn money. Those few cents weren't worth the stress. I prefer talking to reasonable people with more open minds, like the people here.
My first cardiologist in the 1980's said I had MVP, gave me digoxin, and everything was fine for decades. When I moved here my new cardiologist did all kinds of tests, including an atomic stress test, and said it wasn't MVP but high blood pressure. He changed the medication, and it still kept the condition under control most of the time. He doesn't really know what's causing these latest episodes except that it's probably related to my primary care doctor changing my dosage. He told me to resume the old dosage. It's better, but I did have another, but a bit milder episode yesterday. So I'm not considering it fixed yet.

I guess it's all very complicated. I thought it was solved, but it acted up again this morning and blood pressure got really low. we're waiting for the insurance company to put a Holt monitor on me for 48 hours. The doctor says that's a sure way to make sure my heart behaves - at least for the 48 hours the monitor is on. I usually don't go that long without some change is rhythm.

@bagarad Okay. I have good doctors, I cannot complain myself. My regular medical doctor is also a cardiologist. That is good and he is a wonderful doctor. I like my Endo but he is getting up there in years now. I might have to think about finding a new one. My Urologist is greta also. Always on top of things and my eye doctor, I know him for many years now. I started going to his father when I was small. Now I have been seeing his son for many years. I am happy you are doing well. I hate getting older and having to deal with all these medical issues. But I guess that is par for the course.

No wonder have not seen you here for quite some time.It seems that Your primary care physician isn't a competent one.It is said that common symptom of hyperthyrea is heart palpitation.

@bagarad Yes,more than one thing can cause it.You had better go to the doctor to be overhauled and hopefully they can pin down the cause of it.

I'm sorry you've been dealing with all that! Are the palpitations benign? I occasionally have palpitations but I was told it was due to anxiety. It's scary though when you have an attack. I would be worried too over the dizzy spells even if you're being told it's not a heart problem, especially if they started after your doctor cut your medication dosage in half.

These are probably connected to some electrical problem in my heart. The doctor says it's not a plumbing problem. It's just very scary -- especially if it lasts more than a few minutes. I haven't had a bad one since I resumed my regular dose last week.

@bagarad Is there another specialist you could see who deals with the heart's electrical function?

@Srbageldog My cardiologist deals with both. He just considers what I have not something that requires a visit to the emergency room. Today I had no problem.

Actually, the primary physician is also a friend of my husband and we were at a party she gave for her daughter. She is a caring person. I just think she made a mistake on this one. It's the insurance company I fault for making it so hard to contact the correct specialist quickly.

I"ve been busy solving technical problems most of today, and today got off to a late start because of the new palpitations episode that kept me in bed an extra hour this morning. I'm exhausted and I'm going to bed after I finish my comment responses here.
