Since it was my birthday yesterday, my non - professional driver's licence also expired. That is why after my duty at 3pm, I and my son went to Land Transportation Office at 4pm to renew my license.
I had to have a medical examination for a certificate; it took me only 5 minutes to have one. The processing also took 30 minutes but then when I was about to pay, I had penalty. I reasoned out that my birthday fell on a Sunday so I should not be penalized.
The employee said I should have renewed my license a month prior to my birthday. Hence the penalty.
Woohoo. I can drive the car tomorrow for the case colloquium.
My license is valid for 5 years; the card however is not yet available, so this temporary receipt is what I have.

Too bad about the penalty.
Glad you got your license already.

I do not have not have to renew my Philippine DL since I immigrated her in the US. I am not sure how the process is now but 4 years ago it was a nightmare. The line was not moving because fixers and friends of the processors were given the VIP treatment, and the officers keep on hinting how they need more money if I want to be done that day. Really sucked but hopefully it's no longer as bad now.
Belated happy birthday by the way!

thanks for the greeting.
the LTO here prides itself by being a corrupt=free office, but there are still some persons who conceal their illegal activities.

thanks. i thought i won't be penalized because my birthday fell on a Sunday. there is howwever a new policy that licenses can be renewed a month prior to its expiry.

yes it should be one month before your birthday, but anyway that's good you acquire 5-year license.

no, but the 3 of us attended the Holy sacrifice of the mass, then had our brunch in a food store.
