So our new house is near a school and we have this really big driveway that is generally empty because my husband takes our one and only car to work. Somehow, this empty driveway is a signal for parents to pull in and park so they can pick up or drop off their kids from school. Not only that, but now they're starting to park in front of my driveway, potentially blocking us from driving on or off our own property! (Yesterday someone parked in our driveway and then were promptly blocked in by another driver, who parked in front of the driveway!) I'm a bit flabbergasted at their gall. Odds are, they don't know I'm a stay-at-home mom that can see them sitting out there, playing on their phone while they wait for their child to part from the masses and go home. Perhaps they think they're being sneaky or that we won't won't notice. But we do. I've gone out once, already, to let a lady know ours was a private driveway and about scared the crap out of her when I tapped on her truck window. But I don't want to keep going outside to confront people. Part of me thinks, "What's the harm? They're only there for a few minutes..." And then I remember that owning a home comes with potential liability issues. What happens if a parent parks in my driveway and their precious snowflake trips and skins their knee on my property? I really don't want to be sued. So...we're going to put up a "No Parking" sign. My first thought was to put up a funny one. Something like: No Parking Unless You're Bringing Me Chocolate And then I thought I could request a "fee" for using our driveway. Could be a good way to earn some extra income... But then I realized that the parent's wouldn't take me seriously. So I'm gonna install a "mean" sign and threaten to have them towed if they dare to trespass into my territory. Yeah, I'm gonna be that neighbor. So...have you had the guts to park in a stranger's driveway before?

I remember this phrase from the movie The Lord of the Ring with Gandalf.

Lol oh boy you sound like my parents they are very territorial of their land worrying about getting sued. If you just moved in and the place was empty before I assume they are just used to being able to park there but now that someone lives there they should be more respectful. I NEVER go on other peoples land without invitation as that was how I was raised. My neighbors who are relatives drive their four wheelers all over our land and my parents have told them countless times to stop and they don't. Cops warned them but they still continue.

@Genipher I think my dad just did it to scare them into staying off his land but if he had really called the cops again to have them arrested then it would have started one heck of a family war an likely other issues in town as well. He probably felt it was safer to just hope they don’t get hurt on his land and ignore them.

That's when you "accidentally" set a bull loose. Except, then there's that whole suing issue. sigh. So all the cops do is warn? No arrests for trespassing?

I dont drive but no my husband has never done that. It's rude in my opinion, especially if your blocking them from getting in or out which makes it worse!

I think I'd only do it if there was an emergency of some sort. And even then my first instinct would be to pull over to the curb and not into a driveway.

I’m happy that you have a house now. And keep those neighbors off your driveway.

Neighbors I could probably deal with. But these are complete strangers! On the plus side, since the "for sale" sign came down, people seem to be staying out of the driveway...
