A Good Report...

Got a new primary care doctor. I went to see him the other day. I had previously been diagnosed with borderline diabetes. Not too happy since my A1C levels were always really good, before my health decline.
Never had a lot of fatty foods, or sweets in my diet. That changed some when I was homeless for 2 years, and ate what food I could get. I still drink sodas, but nowhere near what I use to...
I was put on two types of diabetic medications (no insulin thank you Jesus)... I decided to watch my eating habits a little better, even though they never put me on a restricted diet like they do most diabetics.
My A1C level tested at 6.1... That was right after I ate a big breakfast. I had no idea I was going to be tested, or I would have fasted. So I am certain that number would have been lower, if I had been fasting.
Even though normal should be 5.6 and under, my doctor was very happy. I asked him if I should be concerned that it was still not under 5.6? He said no. The medications are working, and as long as I am at that level or under...he will be very pleased.
It has been often said, that it is possible to reverse diabetes, and/or keep it under control; and I am living proof that it can. I am so grateful that this is one illness, I now have under control.

What you eat and drink can make a huge difference @teresatrotter . Being over-weight can make a difference too (I don't know if that's your case though).
