Nine feet, all of them

I bought plain wreaths for my house this year. Seven of them. I bought green garland for the lattice panels as well.
I bought some decor for the center wreath, but all the rest needed help. I was going to use red tulle and make bows, but it looked rather un appealing when I tried.
Today I bought red ribbon that is wired. I bought four nine foot spools, for $1 each. I was going to use three feet for each bow. The first spool measured out at 9 feet, even.
The second and third spools measured out about 8 feet six inches.
The fourth spool measured out twelve feet.
I guess it all averages out. I made all my bows that I needed to.
I wonder how they measure the quantity of ribbon on each spool.

I need to get the bows on. My plan is to take pictures and post once I am not at work. Tomorrow is only a half day.

It can really cause a problem if you need the full quantity. I had no way to check until they were open here at home. It was not worth the hassle of taking them back, either.

@LadyDuck I do not have problems like this with groceries, and this is the first I have known about it for dry goods. It is a discount store or cut price store, so I am not terribly surprised.

@GardenGerty Now I go to the nearest scale in the store and I weight the item. I want to receive for what I pay and not the 10% less, or even more, as it happened for a frozen pizza.

Me too. The labels said they did.

@GardenGerty seems whatever measures these out is doing it wrong before packaging them.

@shaggin I always thought it was rolled by machine. I have not checked country of origin, and even if I did, I would not say anything negative about one or another country, for fear of offending my friends. I am curious though.

I will likely post tonight or tomorrow. Blue and silver is lovely and fresh. I have yet to get all the bows on the greenery. It is almost dark when I leave for work and when I get home from work.

That would be very pretty. My center wreath has a velvet bow and a shiny poinsettia clip on. I am needing to find some more of my ornaments to put on.

@sallypup I find that I do less decorating as time goes on. I may take the time to get to my shed for my tomato cage trees, though.

Yes. I think there was a malfunction, or perhaps as @andriaperry said, someone was drunk.

I didn't put up a wreath this year. In fact, I didn't decorate the outside of our home this year. Have way too much to do inside!

I did not decorate inside. First time ever for the wreaths outside. I was thrilled to get all the greenery at half price at Hobby Lobby. I should have got bows then.

I imagine there's some sort of meter measuring out each spool, but it sounds like it needed recalibrating.

You would think so, wouldn't you.

How come the four nine foot spools have different measurements to each other ?Your Christmas decorations will surely be wonderful.

Your question and mine are the same. I would think a machine rolled them, I will be happy with my green wreaths with red bows.

Oh, but they were. I ended up with two short pieces left over.

Poor quality in manufacturing, I am guessing.

Or the rolling machine slipped a gear. In many other industries it has been joked that you do not want something made on a Monday due to hangovers.

I am not sure. Not very fancy this year, but the price was excellent. They are also providing me something to build on.
