A dimple is a depression or an indentation of the muscles of the cheeks. It is considered an asset in the appearance of a person. It makes the face more beautiful.
Among us 6 siblings, my oldest brother (the 2nd among the brood) has the most beautiful dimples. Both cheeks of my brother have the deep dimples, that during his younger years, he is often compared to a handsome actor; Juancho G. My youngest brother (the 6th) also has deep dimples on both cheeks. When he smiles, his dimples show.
When the 5 of us visited our parents’ tombstones in the public cemetery, my 4th brother took groupies for us. He said, “let us all show our dimples”. But my 2 bedimpled brothers did not smile. My 4th brother smiled and posted, “bringing out our dimples” but no dimples appeared in his cheeks .
I told them I have dimples too. In fact, at my right cheek, I have a twin dimple and a single dimple to my left cheek. But my dimples are not deep, so when I want to show my dimples, I should smile well, which I did in the picture. The other 3 siblings have no dimples.

both my parents did not have deep dimples but my father had a shallow small dimple in one of his cheeks.

@ridingbet Mom does not have dimples, my dad had dimples on his cheek and also a small one on his chin, very cute.

I do but not that deep. My mother had dimples on both cheeks and they were very deep. My son now has them too on both cheeks.

@ridingbet Yeah he's labelled a heart throb in school. But he has no girlfriend yet though I know he and his friends are talking about girls most of the time now.

oh, my golly, the dimple of your son is so deep, it makes him more handsome even though he is still a young kid/adult. he has a beautiful set of eyes and thick brows.
i remember your discussion that he is somewhat feeling awkward telling you 'you are the only woman in his life'. he is growing up.

yes, i think dimples show when we smile. but Tom Selleck's dimples are already there even without his smile.

@ridingbet I have a uni friend who is like that (she is very attractive and tall like a model). Her dimples are there, smiling or not. Her children don't seem to have dimples though, so strange! (My friend always seems to smile however, a very pretty girl.)

although i believe the dimple is not inherited, i think i got it from my father.
there was a joke that when my mother bore our youngest brother, she pushed her thunb and index finger on each side of my brother's cheeks, so long that it eventually indented the cheeks;hence, the deep dimples.

but does anybody among you have the cleft chin or the dimpled chin, like Tom Selleck? this fine actor of Blue Blood is so handsome when he was younger, and he has the 2 dimples and dimpled chin as well.

One on my left cheek which is visible when I purse my lips.
And the other two, hmmmmmm they're not really visible unless I wear my two-piece LOL

Kirk Douglas and I both have a cleft in our chin. I have not seen that many in people and love it and feel it is unique.
