Triple Talaq Ban in India

India's Modi government has proposed a Bill to abolish Sharia law related to Triple Talaq (Divorcing Muslim Women by saying Talaq 3 times.)
Government's push has already been rejected by Supreme Court's present Chief Justice, (sure he is afraid of riots over this).
However most of the Judges are in favour of banning this tradition as "One Nation - One Law" ; so a bill is presented in Indian Parliament to ban Triple Talaq.
Muslim organisations and "Secular" political parties like Congress, Communists etc are opposing this bill as an attempt of "Communal Hindu" Government trying to make Law over Sharia which is "anti-secular".
If this bill becomes law, then using any talaq-e-bidat will become crime which will attract penalty of 3 years Jail term under sections 3, 4 and 7 of the Act which is non-bailable. (This still can be challenged in Supreme Court).

So this is a short legend of this story.

Sharia law has no business in a secular country.

certainly a quick way to divorce but it really needs to be changed so a man can't dump his wife so casually and brutally

That's incredible! It's incredible that you managed to condense an extremely complicated political and religious situation into about 5 to 6 sentences and I understand!!
I understand enough to say that I did not even know there was Sharia law in India and that India's political scenarios are way more complex than politics in America.
But I consider all women in the world my sisters and for the sake of my sisters, I hope the Triple Talaq is abolished. It's too complicated for me to explain why. But I'm sure the sisters understand me.

Thank You Lady Fox,
Supreme Court's then CJ is retired, and new CJ has taken over, he may not get afraid of rioters.
But sad truth is that in India Secular means only Hindu bashing, so Sharia Law is considered as secular for appeasement of Muslims.
Due to strong objections by "Secular Parties" this bill is not cleared in upper house of Parliament.

@khagendra1994 Mentioned in the discussion itself. Yes this bill is good to counter Sharia which has rooted deep.
