Finally, It's Over

It has been a long road but we are finally moved to Texas. Bought a nice house in Sherman and finally settling in. It has been a long year and a half since my son passed and we started this process, but it is over now and we are here with our grandchildren. My daughter in law bought a house and we found one 8 doors down from them so the kids can walk back and forth. Looks like it will work out well for us all. We were having houses built next door to each other but the builder was not a very honest man and we had to jump from those contracts and find a different home. That house was supposed to be finished in Aug, then Sept and he hasn't even poured the foundation yet. Good riddance to him. Put our house in Colorado on the market in mid Sept. and sold and was moved to Texas by the end of Nov. So glad its over and now its time to start making new memories. Sad that all my family is back in Colorado but we will get through it, my daughter is coming to visit next week so that will be fun. Have you ever moved and left your whole family behind for a special reason?

So very sorry that your son passed. Was that the reason for your move to Texas?

Yes part of it. My daughter in law couldn't raise the three of them by herself so we moved her to help her. Another reason was that my blood pressure wouldn't regulate in Colorado at the altitude any longer so they said my only hope was moving to sea level, we figured we might as well come here and fix that problem and be with the kids to help them.

@Kandae11 It will be good for all of us and we can heal together. I have told the family its only a 13 hr drive and shorter if they fly. I am sure my daughter will come as often as she come

I am glad you are now settled in your new home. I moved to another country two years after I married, leaving behind whole family.

I've been thinking about you, Cindy, and am glad it all worked out for you in Texas. I'm happy for you and hope you enjoy your time with your daughter. Hopefully, you and your family will be able to visit each other. We left our boys, their wives, and grandchildren behind, but just for four months. It's our fifth winter in Florida and all are happy for us.

@cintol I know you've been through an awful lot. You will settle down and take charge of your life. Things will definitely get better especially with you there to help your grandchildren. I'm sure you will eventually visit Colorado and have frequent guests from Colorado in Texas. Hope you get to visit your Florida friends, too. Giant hugs to you!

Yeah, if I can get past the home sickness I will be fine, its been tough but my daughter and grand daughter are coming in next Thurs for the weekend with us so I am happy about that. Things will get better, only been here for about 5 wks now so have a long way to go. Its so hard leaving your kids behind but my grand children needed us and we had to help. Thank you Dianne. We have some friends in Florida and hope to go visit them this year

I haven't done such at all. I think moving can be good to start a new life, a new beginning. It may seen sad at first especially when you leave families behind, but in the long run, it can be really good.

I am so glad that you are all settled and able to help your daughter in law and grandchildren. We go to Florida for 3 months and I miss my kids and grands like crazy but hubs has Parkinson's and the cold really bothers him, he is so much better in the warmer weather.

Oh, I bet you do, I miss mine when I am away from them as well. Have 5 grandchildren in Texas but left 4 behind in Co. I know all about the Parkinson's, my father and mother in law both suffered from it. I am sorry you and your husband have to deal with it as well.

That was a very brave move. I am sure that it will all work out for you, it sounds like its been a long work in progress. We moved away from all of our families to be near our son less then a year ago. We are making it work.

@cintol Actually, shortly after we moved here, they had to move in the other direction, past where we came from! Isn't that the way it goes? They did just buy a home half way from where they are living and us. But we'll still be an hour apart. When we retire we will move back to a quieter place, like where we came from, and then he can come to us.
