Casual Friday at work

Many businesses in the US have deemed Fridays as "Casual Friday". Employees who would normally have to dress professionally, or in company uniforms, are allowed to wear jeans, etc. (This is not a new thing.) Is the "Casual Friday" trend popular in your country too? What are your opinions about it?

Where I work, (in the uk) we call it dress down Friday, and can wear what we like, within reason of course.

Yes it is. But since I do freelance, everyday is casual Friday for me. I have no opinion.
