I was just replying to a member here who plays Sims to de-stress. (Hi StacyB) Made me think of how when in pain or stressed, I have found that coloring makes me forget everything. Do you color? What do you do to de-stress or ignore pain and go into another world?

Haven't colored anything in a long time. These days, I would go for a long walk or go to the gym, put on some upbeat music and work the stress right out of my body or I might go swimming and then sit in a sauna for a while. I have lots of ways to de-stress.

I work in a facility where I had to sit down with patients for 2 hours while they're doing treatment. They are usually asleep while I need something engaging to keep me awake. The coloring book that I have are the illustrated version of the characters of an epic fantasy novel. So I get to color princesses, and princes, warriors, dragons, monsters, castles, etc. Now it's my trying to color it realistically that's making it so effortful it defeats the purpose of using it to de-stress.

Honesty have a few books of all types, went on a splurge getting them when they were on sale, then got a lot for Christmas one year. This year hubby got me some fancy pencils, I still need to try them out. One night or weekend I will get time to do that. LOL! I would love to color a purple dragon, orange sky and such!

@Ithink I'm glad you enjoy them. That dragon idea is exciting to think about. :) I might try that one day

Hi!! I intend to color. I bought a bunch of coloring books, colored pencils, pens, etc., and have colored a few pictures. It did help keep my mind distracted. But I enjoy playing the Sims more. I used to write to de-stress, but now writing causes me stress!

I find it also takes my mind totally off of pain when I have it. It is weird but it just works.

Yes, coloring is great. I also find posting in here, especially when I have things that are bothering me can be helpful for relieving some stress. One of my biggest stress relievers right now, and is one of the Big things around here, is painting rocks. For me it gives me a chance to forget what is going on now and takes me to something I can enjoy.
