Rioting Over Nutella

favorite product Nutella was being offered at an unbelievable price. Shoppers were actually becoming hostile toward one another because a chain of supermarkets had cut the price of this hazelnut spread by 70 percent. It all happened when the supermarket Intermarche decided to launch a promotion on January 25 lowering the price of Nutella from 4.50 Euro a jar to 1.41 Euro a jar.
Suddenly long lines started forming and inside the supermarkes customers lost their cool. If there weren’t enough jars in the aisles they started fighting. Nutella is made by an Italian company called Ferrero. The company informed people that they had nothing to do with this discount. They stated that it was the supermarket chain Intermarche that was the creator of this discount. The supermarket hasn’t made a comment but it was a situation that led to rioting and breaking of items in the supermarkets. It was also unfortunate that some people got injured. The reason behind such behavior is that in France people love to eat Nutella by the spoonful so this discount meant they could really stock up.
If you saw a favorite product was available for a real discount would you go crazy over it? Do you like Nutella?

I love Nutella! But the sugar in it is to much for me so I stay away.

I'm not keen on Nutella. We shopped at many Intermarche supermarkets when we were in France. We loved the variety they had although most other supermarkets were just as good. In particular it was just that we weren't used to such a choice of delicatessen items.

@RasmaSandra I can't imagine fighting over any sort of grocery product - unless it was the last chocolate bar left on earth. That might move me!

We do like Nutella, but I know there are other chocolate spreads out there that we can also buy. I know how crazy people can get over serious bargains over here . . . nah, I'd rather save my time and life and just go somewhere in peace to buy it at regular price!

Some articles said that Nutella is addictive, the reason why some people go crazy over it.My sister loves to eat Nutella but not for me.They said that the new Nutella formulation of is different from the old one.It now contains more sugar and less hazel nut as a result of economic crisis.I don't know the reason why they bring the prices that low.Definitely I'm not going crazy over it.Maybe it's quality is lower compared to the original one.

You and me both. It sells very well here and I haven't bought it even once @LadyDuck A family sized jar of Nutella 750 grams costs 7.59 Euro or 9.40 US dollars. For this amount, you can get milk, bread, sausage and something else which is more essential for a family.

@RasmaSandra I fully agree, it seems that you have to produce garbage to make money, people like, it costs nothing to you to produce it and you make plenty of money.
