What a day for Groundhogs is in Oregon. I think we call them woodchucks here.
At any rate, the sun has been out all day and it is 68 degrees (20 C) and daffodils are blooming along the side of the house, as is the hellebore. Daphne is about to make a showing too.
Of course, the daffys are blooming right in front of the hose, so that did not help the photo. I could not lie down on the ground to get a better shot because I somehow tweaked my back. No ping pong for me today.
We are having a much milder winter than last year, but the bad news is that we may have severe drought conditions in the summer.
If it's not one thing, it's another, whether it's politics or the weather.
Oh well, time to release this "memo."

@JamesHxstatic I say very cold as it has been -20 °C for more than a week. But it seems we rarely have -40°C anymore. And rarely gets to +30°C in the summer. Overall it is warmer but less extreme.
Pine beetles are becoming a problem as there haven't been long enough cold spells to keep them in check . I hope this is cold enough for long enough??

It's like spring here. Much nicer than last year. We need the rain and snow for water later but just in the mountains, not here.

I hope we don't get the drought in the summer season. It's coming very soon for us here. But the weather has really been unpredictable. It's February and it's suppose to start getting hot but we still get the rainy cold weather.

@JamesHxstatic It has been for the past couple of years here. I always looked forward to summer season when I was a kid because there's no rain and we love going to the beach all the time. But these days, we have rain in the summer and even typhoon which is really odd.

Winter has not been too terrible so far, but we don't see anything lovely trying to bloom yet! Spring will be here soon enough and then the neighbors will complain about the heat.

You have blooming daffodils???? I am ready to move now. We had what I call Tacoma weather this morning. West side fog but NO freeze so the world is dreamy and safe. Gloomy as heck but safe. Supposed to be even warmer tomorrow. Its time I went on a gray walk about...

@JamesHxstatic Last night the commute was a bit disturbing. The closer we got to our driveway the denser the fog. There's a hill on the road just beyond our driveway. I could hardly see the driveway! I completely stopped and peered up the road, making sure there was no one driving toward me before I crossed the center line. Plus I wanted to hit the driveway not the ditch. Freaky to not be able to see my neighbor's huge dairy barn. Its better this morning and going to hit the mid 50s and that is strange for early February but lovely.

It's very cold here today with blustery winds making it feel even colder. No sign of daffodils in my neck of the world yet. Your flowers certainly do make me thing spring is right around the corner

For about three weeks, I have been telling Anne every morning that the birds have been singing spring in. I have seed out for them and they have been singing out there very day. I have been telling her, "Monday, it will be here Monday, they tell me."

I love daffodils. My Mum had masses of them in one bed - and another bed of Dutch iris. Some plants look good when massed.
