Sachin Tendulkar bought me a lolly!

I love cricket and write about it in England for my local paper. I blog about Northamptonshire cricket club and get to meet lots of players. I write the same style there asI do here and sometimes the players don’t like it. Aussie Afrikaner Kepler Wessels got me in headlock for something I write and Freddie Flintoff was going to punch me. So anyway I know how famous Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar are in India and Asia but only cricket fans in England would recognise them, about 5% of the population. So in Northampton town centre, a bigish town in England, there was Rahul Dravid and Tendulkar buying an ice cream at an ice cream truck and no one knew who they were. It was when India were touring England about 15-years ago. Not one person, accept me, had a clue that the greatest cricketer since Brian Lara was buying a 99 ice cream. That situation of those two out in India would be impossible and they would be mobbed by thousands. So I walk over and Say hi and tell them I was watching the cricket they were in. They were enjoying not being noticed and so the chat was fine. They ended up buying me an ice lolly for 50 pence! They went on to win the match the next day and I had a nice story. I did not ask for an autograph as I don’t get why people want autographs and it was too long ago for a selfie, which I also don’t do. It was just nice to meet one of the great of sport.
