Yes that was both of us today in Social Studies, not that I find it totally boring but how they teach it. She isn't interested in it except for our rights. We are talking on the Bill of rights and such. They really need to redo the way the lessons are taught. I seriously almost fell asleep!
The other thing irritating me right now is her Math Teacher, have a assignment and it is common core math with fractions. Neither of us can figure it out, she can do it the old RIGHT way but we cant figure it out with the drawing squares and number line and stuff. So I write the teacher on Monday asking for help, as of yet no reply. I'm going to end up just turning it in blank with a note how we asked for help and none was forthcoming.

I remember the feeling of being bored in certain subjects. I always wanted to fall asleep too and then you don't take in what's being taught,.

@mydanods I'm sure everyone felt like that at some time or other when the subject is not their favourite.

Have you considered homeschooling? It seems the public schools just keep coming up with new gimmicks that make it almost impossible for parents to help anymore. I was teaching when they decided it was time to teach "The New Math" in the 1970's. It was very confusing to me. A few years later they abandoned it. As a curriculum seller I've seen the educational fads come and go as new books are printed to try to keep up with them. Now clerks can't even count back change and have to depend on their electronic registers to tell them what to do.

Im homeschooling with Pacyber but it isnt getting better, been doing it for hmm 3 years now. Keeps getting worse. We dont have the money to do regular homeschooling they way this school wants us too. It is just so boring 25 pages of Social Studies per day and just keeps going and going. Along with the Common Core Math it is just so dumb.

@bagarad If I had the money I could do it my way but we don't, we also cant go many places only on the weekends when we have time and such. We want to get another vehicle some time so I can take her to do things but then again with always being in front of that boring computer.. lol I'm going to use the summer to see how much it would cost in testing and such to do our own thing. Last I checked it was a bit but this is really wearing us down and she isn't enjoying learning.

@I think It sounds very dull. Probably none of us would like to learn that way. I was lucky enough to have a credential, since I had formerly taught in a public school. That meant I could have more freedom to do my own thing, and I did. We took a lot of field trips related to our studies, and if we had an opportunity to travel with my husband on business, we incorporated it into the curriculum. We had a lot of hands-on activities outside the books.
