Repeat Posts.

This morning when I threw open my windows at the crack of dawn, the smell of bacon or other meat frying wafted in with the crisp morning air. I couldn't help but smile - someone was preparing a special breakfast to start their day. Even though I am not a meat eater or indulge in fried fare - that scent gave me a happy and hungry feeling. Then the thought came to mind - here is a topic to write about - scents or things that make us smile in the morning. However, while having my breakfast I remembered that I had written a similar post some time ago - so I had to shelve that idea. When one has written hundreds of posts, it is possible to repeat without being aware of it at the time. Has that ever happened to you? I wonder if it is against the guidelines.

It surely happened to me and it is surely not the guidelines unless it is identical (word by word) to a previous post. There are people here that every morning of every single day of the week writes about breakfast.

@Kandae11 I understand what you mean. It happens to write about the same topic, if you forgot, it is possible than even the others forgot, do not worry.

Breakfast or lunch posts are different from what I mean. I mean the kind of relationships and life posts that I write about - for example - if last month I wrote about younger women/ older men - I won't want to repeat that topic shortly after. Some other person could write about it, but not me.

I may have.repeat myself now and then.It should be not against the guideline on this. Sometime you can repeat but add new things to it.

@amadeo As we get older it is natural to start and forget things. I know first handed as my kids tell me that everyday. They will have to get over it as I am not changing.

I write about speakers, kids, breakfast, gigs, hikes, bad drivers...I'm sure I've covered similar subjects many times.

As long as it isn't the exact same post, it's okay. For example, I write the Daily Bible Study post every day. Same title, different post.

Even if you wrote about the same chapter and verse, your discussion would be different on a different day. Not an issue.

I find I'm using the tags more and more to try to work out if I've posted something before. Sometimes I do repeat things but try to put a new spin on them.

I usually write about my day not about anything from the past so it is very unlikely that I would write duplicate post.

No it's not against the guidelines unless you copy and paste the paste word by word. Then what did you cook?

@sjvg1976 Nothing exciting - I had toast , a boiled egg and orange pekoe tea. I usually have a more interesting breakfast on weekends - then I indulge my tastes a bit.

@Kandae11 Not very likely. I've seen someone repeat a discussion I first made and the second one received more responses than my own.

@mydanods I wasn't talking about when someone else writes on the same topic you wrote about - that is okay - but I think the member should wait at least 12 or 24 hours before posting something on the same topic - unless it happened by chance and they didn't actually see the first post. Anyway, What I am talking about here is me repeating my posts.

I haven't written enough discussions here to repeat myself but I believe that with the time we get confused if we have already started a certain topic or not.

It's quite possible - especially if someone has written for other sites as well (hard to keep track, especially for someone like me who doesn't keep track!). A "similar" post is probably ok . . . but an exact word for word post would not.
