The nature of the internet makes it possible for people to attack others intentionally. Sometimes particularly on Facebook you get someone who trolls you, that is, intentionally attack you, in order to stir you up. I have found that sometimes I let things go. I just move on. But sometimes, I attack back. I give fire for fire.
The anonymous nature of the internet makes people to stir up debates and anger in others. This is particularly evident when someone has an ego. I find that egoistic people cannot hold themselves in a political discussion. I once started a discussion on marijuana here and was I attacked when I was stating my personal experience with the herb.
I’d like to know: How do you react online when you feel someone is intentionally stirring up anger or trolling you? Even here on mylot.

@mydanods They are just strangers on computers on the internet. I could give a flying F what they think of me. There are a few here who I truly like and respect. They know my real name and we are in contact on Facebook. Someone here even has my home address. Another has my email address. Aside from that, it is just the internet. It isn't real life.

I have never had the experience. But if someone attacked me, I´d report it and make note of the name so that I block him and NEVER read another one of his posts.

Oh puh-lease! Trolls don't bother me, the good ones far outweigh the idiots. No worries!

I usually ignore such people initially, depending on what they have said which might be considered 'offensive'. If it appears that they are stepping over the bounds of decency (and the Guidelines) by flaming or appear to be intentionally looking for an argument or are what might be considered to be 'trolling', then I report them. Those who repeatedly attack me personally (especially by Private Message), I will report and block. In many cases, such people have been banned for this kind of behaviour.

I just ignore them and move on. I don't respond to negativity. You can always find negativity very easily in society. Why should I subject myself to it here?
