My Cat Loves My Garden

My cat always follow me whenever I am working in my little garden. I noticed he steps on my newly-sprouted seedlings, so I always shoo him away because he might destroy the very young plants. I have chives, red lettuce and okra, which I will replant when they acquired the third leaf or when they are ready to be transplanted. I said my problem would not be pests or insects, but my cat who seemed to enjoy nibbling the leaves! He also loves to sit and pooh at the soil beds I prepared for planting. Does you pet also meddle with your work?

Yikes! No, Doodles know not to step on Grammy's flowers or go into poison ivy. He uses his kitty box in the house.

He has a kitty box inside, but he prefers to go there while I am working at the garden.

Oh yes she does. I have to keep the door closed when want to work on the computer so I can get work done. She will not let me work most of the time. She will sit infront of the screen and not let me work.

I think cats love to attract their owners when they are busy doing something. And that's what your cat is trying to do- distract your attention because he is just jealous.

Isn’t poop a kind of fertilizer?

Yes, it can be, but it should decompose first.

That's one of the reasons why we adopted him; we noticed he's a good "watchman!"

good thing I do not have pets. I have some lemons, calamansi, aloe vera, pepper, hibiscus and oregano.

@acelawrites true. Though I want to have a dog, I cannot because we have allergies

It is nice to know you also have a garden, and you do not worry about pets damaging it.

I think cats like newly turned soil as it saves them digging their own toilet holes.

Yes, so I always shoo him away when I see him sitting on the soil bed.
