Day 6 Amos 6 Amos 6:1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came! 2 Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? Or their border greater than your border? 3 Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near; 4 That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; 5 That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of music, like David; 6 That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. 7 Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed. 8 The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, says the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein. 9 And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die. 10 And a man’s uncle shall take him up, and he that burns him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? And he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD. 11 For, behold, the LORD commands, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts. 12 Shall horses run upon the rock? Will one plow there with oxen? For ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock: 13 Ye which rejoice in a thing of naught, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength? 14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, says the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness. Has anyone told you they were against you, against everything you did, and told you all the reasons why they were against you? God told Israel, he was against them, and he would raise up an army to come against them and take them captive. Through his prophets, he told them why he came against them, because they were disobedient to him and the laws he gave them. They worshiped false gods, refusing to acknowledge the name of the LORD. We live in a society today that refuses to acknowledge God, but cling to gods, which can’t help them. People run after money, fame, glamour. There is always something new on the market to run after. As Christians, you know how difficult it was to give up your idols, and turn to God, accepting his Son, as your Savior. However, when you acknowledged God, he acknowledged you, and blessed you beyond your imagination. People think they can have it all, the world and salvation. Jesus said, if you gain the whole world, you lose your soul. Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (KJV) God wanted his children to know him, acknowledge him, obey him, yet they refused to live according to the laws he gave them, worshiping instead those things which brought temporary pleasure, and destroyed their soul. Because Israel refused to acknowledge he was God, he sent them into captivity. When you refuse to acknowledge God, and his Son, Jesus, you are in captivity to the ways of the world. Satan rules over this world until Jesus comes for his church. As such, he will do everything he can to make certain you don’t have any opportunities to know Jesus as Savior and Lord. His purpose is to kill, steal, and destroy you and everything belonging to you. However, Jesus said, he came to give you life, and life more abundant than you could imagine. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (KJV) Who will you listen to? Will you listen to what the world offers, and destroy your soul? Or will you choose Jesus, casting away your idols, and embracing the life Jesus has for you, both here, and in heaven? Let’s pray: Father, every day I see evidence of Satan working in the lives of people around me. Help me reach out to them, showing them your love and salvation. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Amen! Thank you yet again! I was just talking about this with someone! Its so important to teach our kids and to lead by example that its ok to be different and we dont have to be an example if worldly sin! Just because its ok or normal in society, it doesn't mean its right!

You're right. It doesn't make it right to follow the world. Have a blessed day.
