Let Me Leave You With This Thought

It is going on 11 PM, a very late night for me as by this time I'm in bed asleep for a couple hours.
I have been interacting with you all for a few hours, and a little while ago I read a post that something bad happened in the world, and I was perplexed as I hadn't heard of anything new happening.
His reply was the usual round of corruption and mayhem that we hear about everyday in the news.
It occurred to me that I've become insensitized to the usual run of news you hear every day. That is completely wrong. What we hear on the radio, TV, Internet, from each of you here who follow the news carefully, should never be taken for granted, no matter how gruesome and unhealthy it is.
I know I don't watch the news because it is so awful, but that doesn't mean there aren't people hurting from what is going on. It doesn't mean those people don't need help or our prayers. They do.
I need to stop being complacent about what's going on in the world, though I don't feel complacent when I hear about it, but even when the usual news makes us insensitive, there's something wrong.
You always hear that one person doing one something can make a difference. It is time to do that one something we can. There's a lot we can't do, but there's also a lot we can.
Just a thought. Now, I'm going to bed. I finally found the last notification. See you tomorrow and I hope you have a wonderful day/night wherever you are.
God bless you all. Thanks for reading.

We hear about so many gruesome, terrifying things. Then, our hearts actually get overwhelmed by the magnitude of it all!

It is so difficult for our words to reach the right person who can do something about it. What can we do? At the best, we can ensure we are not bullying. When we are not bullying we are not creating resentment that can manifest in horrific way.

I watch the news everyday, I just can only take the biased media in small does so I am selective about what I watch.

There are so many bad news. There is a site that announces what bad is happening around the world. I am looking now and I see that one hour ago there was a fatal shooting in a Veteran's center in California. I am not insensible, but there are so many, that I only remember those who are more horrible than others.

There is so much bad happen everyday, sometimes I can cry right through a whole session of the news because I feel so bad for the people, or the ones left behind, I can feel their grief.

The problem is we hear so much bad stuff going on in the world that we forget there is plenty of good stuff too. I try to remember that when I hear horrible things have happened to our fellow humans.

@just4him Good idea, give yourself positive thoughts to remind yourself that there are plenty of good people about.

I listen to news prayerfully, just as I interact on social media prayerfully. There's not much I can do about the evil in the world, but I know who can do something about it, and so I call upon him to bring justice for the oppressed, to comfort those who are hurt, and to be with those who are being persecuted. Sometimes I think it was easier not to know everything going on in the whole world. We can often actually do something to help in our own communities.

Thank you Valerie for sharing that with us. Yes, there are some things we can do in the world and there are things we cannot. We can make person's day complete by giving them a smile or asking how they are or if they are sick telling them you hope they feel better soon. Yes, there are some pretty bad things happening in the world. When I am on the computer I like to check out news to see what is happening in my part of the world which is very important to me and also what is happening outside of this area.

Whenever I think about the issue the world is having or the issue of someplace. It's stressing me, so whenever I visit Facebook, I tried not to watch some videos or news about the world and other places. It's not that I'm not interested, it bothers me and it will stress me a lot thinking how this will end.

I agree that there have been so many awful things happening that we become somewhat numb to it all. I also agree that it's wrong, we should be more aware and involved. I was actually thinking about this last night while catching up on Facebook. Lots of friends were outraged about this thing and that thing, and I thought, "well, that *is* the world we live in these days," which really isn't the attitude I prefer to have. We get so tired though.

@just4him Prayer is good, but I think we probably need to be more active as well. For example, donating blood when we hear about a shooting.

It is so easy to be complacent. I think we do need to look for that one thing we can do to make things better.

After awhile, all of the news starts to sound the same to me. As far as taking action, we can all make a difference at our personal "ground zeros." Be kind to people. Say hello to strangers, even the "bums" on the street. And then go from there.
