no love for DST

I've never been a fan of the switch to Daylight Savings Time, but ever since was extended from March to November instead of running from April to October, the transition has been especially jarring. The Monday following the first day of DST is always the hardest for me.
Today, it feels like there isn't enough coffee in the world. I just can't wake up enough. I can't understand how we benefit from doing this anymore, as studies show that the sleep disruption can have negative impacts on our health (for example, increased risk of heart attacks during the first few days), it doesn't save on energy at all; we might not turn our lights on in the evenings, but we use more lights in the mornings. We also use our air conditioners and fans more, which cancels out any remaining energy savings benefit.
I just can't see what good it does to make the population irritable and cranky and confused for the sake of tradition.
Does your area follow Daylight Savings Time?
Changing our clocks twice a year doesn't save us energy or money, and may even make us unhealthy, critics say.

@amadeo I'm really hoping mine goes down for a nap soon, but he's pretty energetic still.

Yeah, it throws me off for a long time. It completely disrupts my children's sleeping schedules too. Toddlers don't understand Daylight Savings Time.

It is hard enough to get enough sleep without this hour gone. Ugh! I sure hope it is helping someone.

I do too, but I can't imagine who benefits from this. The utilities company, maybe.

Oh I love the light nights! (Sorry). Ours runs from the end of March to the end of October and I can't wait. I might feel a bit tired the night we lose the hour but after that I don't notice any difference.

I enjoy the light nights, but I don't enjoy the disrupted sleep.

@sprite1950 I think I'm mostly noticing it because of the toddler who can't tell that the time changed.

@spiderdust Yes, it is an EU decision and Switzerland followed their decision, I wonder why we do, after all we are not part of United Europe.

@LadyDuck Neither is the UK at this point. I suppose Switzerland did it for consistency's sake.

That sounds like when the UK has theirs too. Was it an EU decision to have it then?

I feel like a cartoon character who is slumped over and dragging a coffee mug along the ground.

@thislittlepennyearns It's pretty big. Not quite big enough for today, but it'll have to do.

I don't like losing the hour at all, I don't think the cold I have right now is helping either.

I'm feeling extra congested today too, and I was on the upswing for a while.
Curse you, Daylight Savings Time!

Yeah, we follow it. Don't know why. I know they have other pressing issues (like allocating a few million dollars to study the mating habits of yellow-bellied sapsuckers), but we really need this archaic practice nipped in the bud (as Barney Fife would say).

I thought extending it by two months was just the stupidest thing, and then they left it that way.

@Courtlynn Consider yourself lucky that you get the opportunity to lay down and rest, even if you don't sleep.

Yes, we celebrate it here.
I do like the longer days, otherwise, I just go with it. But I do understand why people don't like it.

I used to think it was just something the United States did, but so many countries seem to have some form of it.

Back to normal? This isn't considered our "normal" time!
