How Focused are you?

When I was working in the finance and accounts area I had to be focused and on the ball. It did not help that I had to meet deadlines all the time and to see to it that payments were collected and made, especially wages and salaries!
In personal life I react to circumstances and do not plan meticulously. I have a take life is too uncertain, so take it day by day. People are also unpredictable even if I am predictable, so things get out of control; I have to put out the fires at times.
I am now retired, so I tend to drift more; myLot is a refuge and I take it as a blessing I can interact with many all around the world in a jiffy. I tend to be busier now as people know I am retired, so on call all the time! Some just walk in any time too.
I am now focused on extending my quality time on this beautiful planet. No planning, just take each day as it comes.
How focused are you? Do you plan your schedule, activities, etc.?

I can get distracted easily but if I have to do something that needs my time and attention, I would really focus on that and I cannot be disturbed. No matter what I had to finish that task I need to do.

@Shiva49 thank you, my friend. I prevent procrastinating because if do it later, the more I will be unable to do it.

We can't change our personality, our past, who we are, as the seed person that we were created to be, but by focusing on these things, we can help them perhaps to serve us better.
But is this idea really right, or not?
Does focusing and honing in on areas of our lives, following the one path, rather than following no path, or trying to travel several at a time, hinder, or benefit us then?
I would say that focus builds insight when insight is coming from itself, and not from the focusing. This simply means that you must not inspect the seed endlessly, without ever planting it.
If we focus too long on our seed without planting it, something else might destroy it, or even eat it, like this bird here is doing.
Never overfocus on focusing!

@Shiva49 "Anything worth doing is worth overdoing."
David Letterman, (an American Comedian) and a few other people too, have expressed this sentiment, often, though, in a non-serious way.
Perhaps the only thing that we can overdo, that is not bad, is loving someone, and forgiving them of their apparent wrongs against us.
We can never overdo that, or can we?
Overdoing something usually means that we take the doing past the point of loving to hurting, and so in this sense, it is nearly always bad for us to do so.
Even forgiving someone over and over can be bad, as once should be enough, for a real heartfelt forgiveness to be made. More than this just annoys the other person, who begins to doubt your sincerity in your doing so.

@innertalks Having seen the world from a wider angle, I realize parents in Asia tend to love their children to such an extent they do not want to let go even when they are adults and have their own families. That creates a crutch mentality both ways.
My son was born fourteen years after our marriage but once he was a teenager I let go but am there when in need. I tell my wife we are all separate souls with different outlooks and karma. I embrace all as deserving love but I have more responsibility to my close relatives.
So balance helps. Sometimes, we go overboard with reason and logic taking a back seat like trying to win matches by stealth and then find that the goodwill built over years evaporates within moments! siva

Overdoing anything is bad and that includes focusing and planning.
In my line of work, it was a tradeoff when it came to meeting the deadlines.
I had to give reports and file returns within deadlines and could not wait for all documents to be checked in detail.
Also when it comes to health. I wait for symptoms to persist than get anxious over minor discomfort - some are hypochondriac.
Now that I am retired, I take things easier as I allow things to drift more. It is time to eject excess baggage so that I travel light (through light) on my return journey!
I have found it is better not to take life too seriously as we get older - siva

For most of the past 40 years I was focused .. I work like a clock.. I'm tired of that lifestyle now .. I now deserve to enjoy moment to moment existence .. and savour the quality and serenity it brings...

I am now retired and that has given me time for myself.
When I was working I had to be on the ball and over time I felt I should stop when I could.
After all, my work was not one to benefit humanity, so just let go without regrets.
Another day is not assured, so just count the blessings - siva

Even though I am retired, I am still quite focused and have very specific plans.
