And now she has it

Years ago, before it was the trend to upcycle old furniture, I found this cute little chest. I did not want to strip the paint from the whole thing.
My first husband cut me a thick plywood top for it, as it had lineoleum and ruined wood on top.
I painted parts of it, and stripped the paint from the drawers. I used stencils to put roses and carousel horses on it. Roses on the drawer fronts, more roses and two horses on top. Carousel horses were kind of my daughter's interest at the time. She was probably around ten so that would have been 28 years ago.
Now she had a twelve year old daughter. Now her daughter has this little chest for a bedside table.
I feel good when I see things I have made for the kids being used.

It was always a good size for beside the bed. I like that she has it.

Even as a small child I liked to find, fix and repair and upgrade things. I never wanted anything to be broken.

@GardenGerty Yes time does fly. I am sitting here looking at a drum table that was my Grandmas. The silly thing has been with me all my life.

Old wooden furniture is so much better made than much of today's stuff.

It is fun to see. I also get to see that the kids have curtains in their rooms that I made. It makes me feel part of their life, even though I am distant. My handwork is all around my daughter.

It is always a safe place to keep your eyeglasses and it is a place for a book or lamp.

That's a cute little chest and your granddaughter will make good use of it! Plus, your handi-work is on it, so that makes it even more special:)
