"I'm not tired!"

In the background, I can hear my son fussing while his papa puts him down for a nap. He definitely sounds tired, he just hasn't accepted that he is yet. I know I'm not the only one who struggles with toddler naptime. Some kids are perfect nappers/sleepers, stick to a schedule like clockwork and get plenty of rest. Me? I only had one of those children. The rest sleep like me, which is not very well at all. I'm not a fan of the "cry it out" method and have had some people tell me that it's why my kids don't sleep well, but I think that's hogwash. Some methods work for some families, and some work better for others. I just haven't hit on what works best here (except that Papa is better at soothing him for naps than I am). I do not think that the "cry it out" method works. My younger brother never had problems sleeping, I always had and I still have.

@spiderdust Do not listen to other people. Every kid is different only Moms know how to raise their kids.

I don't think it works either. There are some who disagree with me, but they aren't raising my children and don't get a say.

I had a lot of problems sleeping as a kid, but that is because I have had insomnia all my life. When I baby sat a whole bunch of kids and they had nap time I just started talking. Even if they were yelling like mad. I would start talking about my day, maybe a story, sing a song and they give up and go to bed. It worked most of the time. It is hard if you are busy you do have to let them cry it out if you have to hurry and get something done. But most of the time I would just stand there and talk while they gave up, finally sat down and fell asleep. I guess I'm boring haha Or that storytime really helps kids sleep.

Did he finally get a nap? Does he sleep all night?

Not yesterday. It was a long and tiring day, and he still doesn't sleep all night (just most of it).

@thislittlepennyearns Maybe. So far, he sleeps like his oldest sister did, and she still doesn't sleep well.

I've gone through both sides of naptimes with many kids. My niece had to have me lay with her or she would scream and cry and keep the other kids up. My nephew just needed a sip of a drink first and he was good to go. Lol. Hope you find something that works for you guys.
