Diary Tuesday 20th March 2018 A straight-forward cheap near-sell by date food run today, with a pot-luck random bag of food allocation that included ready to eat salad, muisli, hummous and chicken. Diary Wednesday 21st March 2018 A quiet day catching up on job hunting. I had hoped to visit the community centre but it was only open for a pre-Easter family fun day today and most planned events there were just for children, so I decided to skip out on this. I spent the day at home preparing more for my pending Eater break, and in the evening, attending a Humanist meeting at the Black Horse pub. Lots of newcomers came along and the little meeting room got quite crowded, and we had an open discussion on abortion law. There are plans to oblige anti-abortion champions to hold their protests elsewhere than right outside abortion clinics where they have been known to get very aggressive towards women entering the clinics to have their operations, and attacking staff. Though pro-women’s right to choose to have an abortion, all the attendees, myself included, feel that opponants, often Christians, have every right to protest, but they must not be allowed to interfere with the clinics or compromise client-doctor confidentiality. We also discussed the current British media vilification of Russia in the wake of a nerve agent assassination attempt in the UK being blamed on Russia and ongoing assertions of their interference in the US political election of Donald Trump. A general sense of need not to believe everything we see in the press prevailed. Afterwards I checked out the city's newest pub, The Orchard, which I left quickly as they are very pretentious and over-priced. I called in the nearby Market Tavern for a drink, to kill time before the bus arrived to bring me home. Diary Thursday 22nd March 2018 I did get to the community centre today, job searching, and being treated to some of the cakes left over from the family events the day before. After a library visit I went to a workshop for brushing up on public speaking skills. Overall this was very good, with the tutor providing a lovely free buffet for attendees. One chap did spoil things by repeatedly talking to others at his table despite tutors repeatedly asking him to top, but not formally chastising him for becoming increasingly selfish and deeply annoying. Diary Friday 23rd March 2018 I stayed at home all day today, gaining a possible job interview for a kip-hire company for early April, after completion of my CCTV course. More excitingly a publisher considering one of my books is now attending the science fiction convention I’m going to at Easter (he was previously unable to get there) and we will be discussing my book there. I so hate pretentious places and always jack up the prices because they so better than everyone. Screw them and the horse they rode in on who they probably think they are better than. Good luck with the job interview/public speaking and sounds like you scored with some good food this week.

@crossbones27 yes I did well on the food front - good that there was a decent pub close to the disappointing one

Oh what an awesome thing when an employer can choose to take on a job or perhaps gigs. There are choices but how many are taking advantage of the choices?

Great! I hope he has good news about your book. Isn't "the Orchard" an unusual name for a pub?

@Kandae11 the name will be due to its proximity to the fruit market though the pub ciders are not brewed locally so the name is a bit bogus in some ways

That course attendee sounds a pain. The skip hire job sounds preferable to others you have mentioned.
