When I was in college, I took up Minority Women Writers. That is where I learned about Sojourner Truth's speech--Ain't I a woman? It was from 1863. She saw white women being treated well, but she and other black women were not. This reminded me of a discussion I started the other day about a woman walking hand in hand with her boyfriend, and they are stepping up to the curb and suddenly the boyfriend took his hand and arm to hold/gently push his girlfriend back so that a woman about five feet away, walking down the pavement could go ahead. The woman was dressed to the nines and had loud high heels, and long curly hair. Of course, she had her cell phone to her ear. His girlfriend is somewhat overweight, wearing jeans and a casual shirt. Not looking anything like this woman. When her boyfriend did this, he said.....Go right ahead ma'am. The look on his face..as if this woman was a princess. The girlfriend felt like...Ain't I a woman. That girlfriend was me, and I am still hurting.

That was harsh. I would punch that girl on the nose or trip her.
