Good Monday morning to all! As what I posted yesterday, we will resume our duty today. This morning, I received 2 missed calls and a text message from our clinical coordinator informing me that I will have additional 3 students to the 5 learners originally on schedule in IMCU. This means, I will handle 8 students. IMCU is an 8-bed capacity ward, and if there are 8 patients, I have to assign 6 patients to my 8 kids (I sometimes call my students my ‘children’). One should be the team leader, and the other should be in charge of medications for all 6 clients. The staff nurses on duty, usually 3 or 4, aside from the nursing aide, will handle the remaining 2 patients; that is if the ward is full. Now, what if there are only 4 patients? Should it be 1:2 (1 patient to 2 students)? Hmmm, I will just cross the bridge when I get there.

Are you okay now, Ingrid? Did your allergic rhinitis subsided? Hope they have left you. Have a great day ahead. Take care!

not yet okay. my left eye is now itching much that it is red now. the eye-bag under my right eye is so pronounced but it can be concealed with my big pair of eyeglasses. i will be wearing a face mask in the area anyway, so i won't inhale allergens and my eyes and nose will be protected. ---(like a motorcycle rider!)

@mlgen1037 i am better now. i brought the eye drops in school, and when i instilled a drop in each eye, i felt the itch again, so now, since my eyes are no linger reddish, i will not instill again.

there were 6 patients. what i did was, i made 2 students as team leders, and one each had medication student nurse. the remaining 2 handlied one patient each. we did not get 2 patients so the staff on duty had something to do. they took care of the other 2.

handling 8 students last night was toxic but my students were all assertive and enthusiastic to care for patients so i did not have a difficult time handling them

the team leader endorsed our patients all alive, well, and breathing. my students did their responsibilities well.

I think you can handle it gracefully. I missed having interns under my care.

Of course kabsat. I was able to handle 12 students before, having 8 is a benign task for me
