Is this art? Or pornography?

A month or so ago, I took a hike with a friend. We encountered a slug on the trail, and I went all into a rage, as slugs are hard on my gardens. But we also composed and took a photo of the slug from above, and it turned out kind of cool. I like the way the photo shows the contrast between the slug and the various rocks and fallen vegetation there. Have you ever taken a photo that you didn't expect much from, and had it turn out kind of pleasing? Or maybe had little green men or a flying saucer in the background that you hadn't noticed before?

Slugs aren't my favourite things but he's too big to tread on. He'd squoosh out the sides of my shoe and that would be a bit sickening.

Exactly. For all I know, I might have been slipping and sliding the rest of the hike.

The slug is just kind if a "prop."

@vandana7 I think the slug thanked us for making it a star. And not squishing it.

You did quite well with this picture of the slug. Now, to keep them out of your garden.

Exactly. I've been away from the preschool in Berkeley for a week (Holiday). I'll see if any of our "garden" survived there.

Somewhere I have a photo of a praying mantis that was breathtaking in detail.

I've taken a few of those here, but none are particularly detailed. If you find it, post it!

Our slugs were white in our old state and I hated them. This one looks like there is a little birds nest at the bottom of his tail.

I noticed that too. But it's only maybe 1.5" across!

@CaptAlbertWhisker Jut don't remind yourself that free range chickens eat mostly bugs and slugs.

@TheHorse just a regular disinfectant spray then wiped it clean with a tissue.

@Madshadi Yeah, I'd probably use my generic Ocyclean "cleans everything" spray.

Your slug composition reminds me that slugs will be one of the benefits of us moving West.

Start your plants inside, or on a balcony (my strategy here at home), where the slugs can't get to them.

There is a certain pleasing artistry to that composition. But I still dislike slugs - except sea slugs, because they are often beautiful - and they don't eat my garden plants.

lol. No green flying saucers in any the back drops of any photos I have ever taken. But certainly from travel photos if I looked close enough I am sure I'd find something interesting lurking in the back drop.

Absolutely! The digital camera can capture what the physical eye can't see. I have taken many a photograph with my digital camera and have captured things totally unexpected.
