Are you a party animal?

When I was younger I loved to go out and have fun with my friends. If I had to stay in for a weekend I thought my life was over! Now that I am older I much prefer to stay in, watch TV, MyLot, read a book, all the things I thought were boring when I was young. Funny how things change as you get older, I'm quite the hermit now. Some people never really become part of the social scene. What sort of person are you? Do you like to stay out all night or do you prefer to snuggle up in bed with your home comforts around you? I just thought I would mention that partying doesn't necessarily means you go to a party. It is a word used in the US/UK to describe having fun with friends, generally socialising. Image from Pixabay

I have been to a few parties between friends when I was young, but I have never been interested by night clubs and other dancing places. I am not a "social scene beast".

@sprite1950 It would not hurt me. I was brought by a couple of friends in a youngsters club last year and was secretly hopping to be refused, but I had no problem to enter.

I spent a lot of time in clubs even in my forties but I would probably be turned away now for being too old!

Partying is just another name for having fun with friends. It's a term used in the US and UK. I kind of forgot other countries would not use the same expression.

I like to receive friends, but I never liked to go to parties. I hate loud music, I cannot stand to be in the middle of noisy people. I have never been a party animal.

Did you get married young? I got married and had children later in life so loved going out beforehand.

@JudyEv I call that young! I remember when I was young I lived in a small place with not much going on so I moved to a large town. I thought my small town was boring but I would love to go back there now as I can see how lovely it is. I just didn't at the time.

@sprite1950 I lived out of town so socialising wasn't so easy. And I didn't go away to University so I lost touch with most of my school-friends. I didn't marry till I was 25.

I'm kind of mix introvert and extrovert. I just go outside when my friends invited me to go somewhere else.

I am a homebody. Always have been; always will be. I'm not a social creature although I like to socialize online. I have anxiety issues and don't like to be in crowds or strangers. I socialize at work and don't have a problem doing that but to go out to a club or something even with people I know makes me uncomfortable. I stay home and spend time with my kids, watch TV, read a book, play on my tablet, and work online.

It's strange how we can present a different image online to how we really are. You are the last person I would think had anxiety issues. You sound very confident.

@morgoodie I get mild anxiety which seems to have become worse since I retired. Mine comes to the fore when I have to drive anywhere. I hate driving now. I'm scared of crashing or causing an accident. My partner tells me I am a good driver and I think he's right but I just hate getting behind the wheel now.

@sprite1950 Well thank you!! It is amazing how different people seem online versus in real life. I do have bad anxiety even though I do take medication for it. People think just because I am quiet that I am stuck up or a b-word. Unfortunately, I have passed on my anxiety issues to both of my children and I feel bad for them.

Those were the days. Were they not? Same here. I enjoyed organizing them and I cannot count the number of events I had put up. Now I do it once a year for the less privileged during Christmas time. Apart from this I did get my classmates together a few times. My socialising now is here at myLot (lol)

Same with me. I socialise far more online than I do in the real world now. I have just noticed you spell the same way as I do. I guess you must have learned the British way at school. Most other countries here use American/English .. you think I would have noticed that after all this time!

I really like to be with my friends, I always have good moments with them, we don't go to bars but we get together for picnics, dinners in each other houses, we often visit places together as well as go to the beach. But sometimes I also like being in the comfort of my home and relax.

I think once people settle down they want different things. It gets too expensive to go out often and being surrounded by people all the time loses its appeal.

I was a never a party animal. Only went to parties when I was younger because it was a place to meet and make friends. I never really felt comfortable at parties. I was what they call a "wallflower". One day I just decided that it wasn't necessary for me to make myself feel awkward and uncomfortable anymore. So I stopped going to parties.

I'm not a party animal and never have been. When I was younger I lived with a girl who would spend every single night out at a club until 4 in the morning. She often would encourage me to go but it's just not my idea of fun. She was a typical party animal though and I guess I am a nerd!
