How do you know when it's time to do laundry?

I sure that some people have a set schedule for laundry. And families must do laundry often. I know it's laundry day when I'm out of either socks or underwear. I have oodles of shorts and t-shirts--no issues there. What lets you it's time to suds your duds?

But my wardrobe is so diverse. I have 3 pairs of painter's pants, 2 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of shorts, 29 different button-down and flannel shirts, 3,274 t-shirts, ten pairs of underpants, and ten pairs of white socks.

Much the same really but I do change the sheets and towels weekly.

Sheets I change every other year or so, and towels I change when I do laundry.

@JudyEv Sometimes I find them partying in the kitchen when I get home. They obey when I order them back on the bed, though.

@TheHorse Thank the Lord I don't sleep with you! The sheets must be walking off the bed.

Both my husband and I change our underwear and socks every day. I wash laundry once a week, there is a lot to wash, all the bath towels, personal clothing, the bed sheets, the table cloth and napkins.

@TheHorse You know, if you are comfortable not washing you sheets you can even never change them. I do every week, I change the bath towel every other day, but I wash them all together once a week, there is no reason to waste water.

I should probably wash my sheets more often, but once every two years works for me. I do wash one bath towel with every load.

@LadyDuck Heh heh. I actually wash my sheets now and then. But not every time I do laundry.

The washer is full. I have my own washer and dryer, and a clothes line if I chose solar power for drying them. But not right now the pollen is so bad.

@andriaperry We have a lot of dust in California. When the sun shines in my house at a certain angle, I can see dust particles everywhere in the air I'm breathing.

Yeah, being out of fresh socks and underwear is a good indication, or when the bed sheets lose that crisp feeling...

I wash clothes for my family very often. Twice at three times a week. Of course, washing machine does almost all the work.

I tend to "think ensemble." If I'm wearing my white sneakers, then dark shorts and a white t-shirt look good.

No schedule for laundry here, but we do do it often. As someone either wants something that's dirty, or the laundry bucket gets close to / full.
