That One Time When I Licked the Stanley Cup

With the Stanley Cup Playoffs in full swing, all sorts of hockey memories have come flooding back.
In 2001, Denver hosted the NHL All Star game. Along with the game, the NHL brings a fan party to town, called The NHL Experience (or something like that. I was really drunk!) You get to see all of the trophies, get autographs from former players, test your slapshot, sit on a Zamboni, lots of cool stuff like that. Oh, and you get to see the Stanley Cup. In fact, for a five dollar donation to the NHL's Hockey Fights Cancer charity, we got to get our picture taken with the most coveted trophy in sports.
My friend and I waited in line for about an hour, during which we noticed that most guys were just posing with it. A few guys kissed it, but most just stood there, my friend included.
I figured that since I had waited so long, and that I wasn't likely to get near the Cup again, I wanted to do something memorable.
Out came the tongue. I licked the hallowed Stanley Cup like it was a waffle cone.
My former boss is an even bigger hockey fanatic than I. He even plays. He was about ten minutes behind me in line, so I worked my way back to show him the photo. "No. No you did not lick it," he said, probably in disgust.
Well yeah, I did.
And yes, I'm betting I still would have done it had I been sober.

@toniganzon - I don't have a journal, or a blog. I guess I treat this as such.

The players drink champagne out of it, and you’re weird for licking it?
At least you didn’t hump it! (You didn’t, did you??

I think they would have stopped me if I had tried climbing up onto the table!

I'm not even allowed within 100 feet of an NHL game.
