Children's Imaginations

Remember when you were a child and pretended with your dolls? Our imaginations were strong. Something in the news about this. It reminded me of the stories my family would tell about my beloved uncle Fred. He was a dear man. I guess when he was in grade school he had quite an imagination and would tell a lot of tall tales. Once, when asked how his school day had been, he told about going to India and riding on a elephant.

Oh, yes! We lived near a small river when we were growing up and one of my youngest brothers came back to the house one day with a tale about an elephant he saw in the river. That wasn't the only time he said things like that, but that one stands out in my mind. He can still tell a whopper of a story with a straight face.
