They are making such a plan and they have surveys for it. It seems many people agree to it because of the environmental issues. I am with it, too. But I think actually today people use more plastic bottles and this is a big waste than drinking straws. This is why I like to bring my drinking bottle when I go out. I don't find it troublesome and I feel glad to do something good for our environment.

Hmmm... Yeah, plastic bottles are everywhere, they should be the main concern.. But I believe our fellow scientiest somewhere around the globe are thinking about how to make undisposable drinking straw.. Just like a coffee cup that can be eaten after using it..

Plastic bottles need to be banned but I don't suppose they ever will be.

I even think the plastic bottles use more often than before. When I watch The Big Bang Theory, I can see they drink from plastic bottle all the time.

The whole world should ban or at least limit the use of plastic.

Limiting the use of plastic is much more practical.

At restaurants I go to, they don't give you a straw. The straws are only given upon customers request. But I do request it because I don't want to drink from the lip of the cup that others been drinking too.

Good for you. Plastic bags and plastic bottles are really harmful to the environment.

So I think it is better to use less plastic bags and bottles at first.

There are talks of replacing drinking straws in the States as well in certain states. I don't like the government imposing a law for such a thing. That being said, I am sure they can come up with a plastic cup lid that opens up much like a coffee cup does and lets you sip it.

The plastic bottles create most rubbish. They are worse than the drinking straws.

@youless I tend to agree. But there have been strong efforts to encourage recycling them. That being said, many of them do not get recycled unfortunately.

I wonder how hard it is to keep glass straws clean. I don't use straws at all.

@youless It's better to use a straw for your teeth though if you drink anything but water.

Plastic pollution is a huge problem. Unfortunately it is difficult to buy paper straws instead. I tried 4 stores last week, 3 of them major chains, and they only had plastic ones - 3 types in one shop!

@youless It's said to be better for your teeth if you consume sugary drinks through a straw.

I rarely ever use a straw. The only time I do is if I purchase a soda at SubWay, which is not often. I'm glad someone thought to put a ban on them. Other countries should follow.

Here we can't get plastic bags for free when we go shopping. So people start to have habit to bring their own cloth bag. At least it creates less plastic bags.
