Born on this day (April 23rd) in 1564 Shakespeare is one of our most famous playwrights and poet. As well as being a popular actor he wrote 40 plays but never published any of them. Two actors, John Hemmges and Henry Condell edited the collect called First Folio and it contained 36 of William's plays. Shakespeare had a wonderful vocabulary. He his credited in the Oxford English Dictionary with adding about 3,000 words. Such words as fashionable, cold-blooded and arch-villain. Interestingly only six signatures of William Shakespeare's exist. These legal documents have his name spelled all different ways such as Shaxberd or Shakspere. On a couple of them he didn't even write out his entire name but abbreviated the last name.

I did Shakespeare in school and even memorized some of his work. I am sure they are mostly forgotten now.
