Day 10 Matthew 7:6 Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. How many times do you try to tell someone something that would be for their good, only to have it thrown back in your face? Solomon gave the people many proverbs full of wisdom, showing the foolishness and stubbornness of men and the wisdom and righteous behavior of men. He showed how impossible it was to reason with foolish people who insisted on going their own way and not listening to anything anyone else said. Jesus relates those actions as giving your best advice to dogs or pigs, because dogs and pigs will tear apart everything you give them, and trample on your best offerings without regard for what it is or who gave it to them. When you give advice to foolish people, who believe they know better than you, they will cast it away, make fun of it, and try to show you what a fool you are. In so doing, they show how they are foolish and pigheaded, unwilling to listen to any kind of reason. As Christians, you have the gift of discernment from the Holy Spirit. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you to those who will accept what you tell them, those who are willing to make a change in their lives for good. Then you will not be wasting your time with those who are too stubborn to listen to reason. Does that mean you give up on the stubborn and foolish people? No, it means you pray for them and allow the Holy Spirit to change their hearts. Remember, God doesn’t want anyone to perish, but for everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (KJV) When you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you, you will never cast your pearls before swine. Let’s pray: Father, lead me to those who want to know you. Show me those who will listen to reason and hear what you tell them. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 28 April 2018 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

That's interesting. As you can see, I'm not doing the whole chapter. There are too many good nuggets to grab hold of and just let it sink in. Have a blessed day.

I am strong in my faith. I found an old book of reading of faith my mom had and it goes according to the calendar so each day a new reading. I read one every morning now. Blessings to you.

Amen! So true, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink it! So for me, I'd rather be holding a little light pointing to Jesus and if people ask for help along the way, I'm more than merry to assist in what I can or point them to others who know better!
