I was really glad to see that in 1993 there were two songs I knew well and liked. The biggest song of this year was “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston and it stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart fourteen consecutive weeks. The songs is from her movie “The Bodyguard”. As much as I love her version I am partial to the original version. The song was written by singer-songwriter Dolly Parton and released as a single in 1974. I feel her version really tugs at the heartstrings especially her country-style of singing.
The Song of the Year was a favorite of mine “Tears in Heaven” by Eric Clapton. The song won Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance. The song was written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings.
