Researchers have found that silkworms to elephants may exhibit abnormal behavior prior to earthquakes. It is said that animals might react to a seismic event in progress. They may sense the waves. Especially foreshocks. During such activity electrically charged molecules raise serotonin levels in the bloodstream of both animals and humans which causes hyperactivity and agitation in animals. Animals will leave the area if it is possible.

@celticeagle , My 250 horses never got agitated so far....in fact we had a storm this evening and they were all alright before, at the time of and after the Storm!

@celticeagle it is possible yes - only experienced one short quake myself. Loud and scary but no one was hurt

That is what the people have notion about the horses, but the horses on the farm where I work they sleep and snore when an earth quake occurs here! They don't even neigh ! Thanks @celticeagle!

I have seen deer run from an area before lightning struck. I am sure they knew it was not safe where they were
