Six years ago the world lost a true artist/humanitarian/philanthropist.
On May 4th. 2012 Adam Yauch, beter known as MCA of the Beastie Boys. In 2009 he was diagnosed with a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node.
At age 22 he, with the Beastie Boys released their first album and over the life of the group sold 10s of millions of albums and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a rap group in 2012 (sadly Adam wasn't able to attend due to his illness).
Adam converted to Buddhism and became very active in the Free Tibet movement along with many other charity works. Brooklyn,New York named a park after him in recognition of his importance as a person who grew up there.
On a personal note MCA has been one of my favorite artists, music and movies, so much so he is one of 3 people responsible for my beginning to write music.
I was privileged to meet him once back stage at a music festival that he was performing at. He was a joyful person and intellectually giant. I miss you Adam and will spend today only listening to your works.

The surviving Beastie Boys will not perform again out of respect for MCA.
